Our offerings include cinema-quality projection on a spacious presentation screen, a lectern and risers for enhanced visibility, a professional sound system, recently updated lighting equipment, and internet access throughout the building.



Among our versatile spaces is the crown jewel, the Minerva Space—a 280-seat theatre ballroom featuring a proscenium-arch stage. The Humffray Room, with its 100-seat capacity, boasts an incredibly high ceiling, a heritage grand piano, and a built-in bar, making it perfect for a variety of events.



For more intimate gatherings or breakout sessions, the Hugh Williamson Foyer offers a welcoming ambiance.



We take accessibility seriously, and our venue is fully accessible via the front foyer&#8217;s lift, ensuring that all guests can enjoy the splendid surroundings.

Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute

Amie Brûlée is a musician, performer, speaker, writer and researcher. Since 2011 she has performed under the stage name Amie Brûlée, singing and playing French and Spanish songs, vintage jazz, originals and songs about food and drinks. 



Off-stage, Amie creates and produces arts-based events and experiences, producing music festivals and creating independent events that focus on music, stories and drinks. She also teaches music, French, wine, spirits and gastronomy. Amie speaks fluent French and has a PhD on the cultural side of wine, and her research focuses on social connection, cultural identity, creativity, sensory education and pleasure.



Amie is an engaging performer who brings heart and joy to audiences with songs and stories. She blends her expert knowledge of the global drinks world with her performance experience and continental sophistication to delight audiences large and small.



She has performed and MC-d at many festivals and events, regularly creates events in music and drinks, has lectured in wine at The University of Melbourne, worked for one of Australia’s oldest wineries, and loves collaborating with fellow lovers of food, wine and music.

Meet Aunty Jacks, an eclectic brewpub created from repurposed materials where the 1950’s meets steampunk. Brewing award-winning beer on-site with a variety of styles coveting a host of medals from the Australian International Beer Awards.



Aunty Jacks offers an extensive menu with signature dishes inspired by the classics, and comprises multiple spaces to suit both dining, drinks and functions. The venue can hold up to 400 people, with multiple spaces available to cater for a variety of functions and events.

Located on historic Lydiard Street in the heart of Ballarat, Craig’s Royal Hotel is the legendary Australian gold-rush era grand hotel. Built in 1862 on the site of Bath’s Hotel, Ballarat’s first officially licensed pub, Craig’s has been a goldfield icon since Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, slept in its ornately decorated rooms in 1867 and Dame Nellie Melba famously sang from its balcony in 1908.



Each of Craig’s 41 boutique rooms have been individually re-built and furnished to provide guests with beautiful, elegant accommodation while retaining features of their rich history. No two rooms are the same.
